SINGLE CUP

Last Wednesday Coonabarabran High hosted the annual Single Cup competition. The Single Cup is a one day sporting contest between Coonabarabran, Coonamble and Gilgandra High Schools. Each school plays against each other in 15’s and Open Netball, 15’s and Open Rugby League, Soccer, Hockey, Tennis, Golf and Lawn Bowls. Each win gains four points for your school.

 

Gilgandra have been very hard to beat in recent years having held the Cup since 2000, although the 2003 was a tie between Coonabarabran and Gilgandra.

 

This years competition was hard fought, however Coona proved to be too strong finishing the day with 59 to Gilgandra’s 49 with Coonamble finishing third on 19 points. It was a very powerful display by the home school in all sports and it was very pleasing to raise the Cup for the first time since 1999.
