Athletics Carnival 2008
Coonabarabran High School recently held its annual athletics carnvial. It was a fantastic day that saw one of the highest participation rates of students in many years.
The 2008 house captains worked hard in the weeks prior and on the day to encourge and support their peers and ultimately this made for an excellent day. Their efforts are to be congratulated!
The Tom Sullivan Coonabarabran High Gift was a hotly contested event and was eventually won by Year 8 student Amanda Hynds, a close second was Year 9 student Josh Douglas and third place went to Elise Baker of Year 10. These students were awarded monetary prizes kindly donated by the Coonabarabran Bakery, a huge thankyou to Keith and Ros for their ongoing generosity and to Luke for being there on the day to present the winners. All students who participated in the gift are now eligible for prizes at school to be announced very soon!
The carnival ran very smoothly thanks to the efforts of our hard working staff, they transformed themselves into super athletics officials which allowed for all events to be conducted efficiently and students were given every chance to compete at their personal best.
Some very close relays wound up the day and final point score and age champions were announced with great anticipation. Mopra ended up coming out in front, taking out the double whammy of both swimming and athletics carnivals for 2008. Well done!
