The Coonabarabran High School Lawn bowls knock out team have again made a fabulous start to the competition once again. They played Coonamble High School on Friday, 20 March in Round 2 of the North West Region at Coonamble Bowling Club. They defeated Coonamble 31 – 8 in a resounding victory with all team members bowling exceptionally well. The team consists of Alyssa Verrender playing lead, Claire Bennell second and Tim Wilkinson skipping the team. Particular mention is necessary of Alyssa as it was her first game of competition bowls. Her first bowl on the twelfth end was a toucher which stayed there for the whole end which we won by one shot. They now move on to play Walgett in Round 3.
Round 3
The Coonabarabran High School Lawn bowls knock out team consisting of Alyssa Verrender playing lead, Claire Bennell second and Tim Wilkinson skipping the team played Wagett High School on Thursday, 2 April in Round 3 of the North West Region at Coonabarabran Bowling Club. They defeated Walgett 23 – 16 in a hard fought victory with all team members bowling exceptionally well. After 5 ends they led 7 – 0 but were cut back to 7 – 6 after 7 ends and were behind 14 – 13 after 14 ends. However, the team rallied and were eventual winners 23 – 16 after wining 14 of the 21 ends. They now move on to play winner of Gunnedah - Warialda match in Round 4.
