On Thursday 30th April, Coonabarabran High School's Open Girls Basketball Team travelled to Inverell to play Macintyre High School in the North West Regional Semi-Finals.
Macintyre High got away to a solid start, leaving Coonabarabran High to play catch up. The girls fought their way back into the game in the final quarter with perseverance and some consistent shooting from Corrine Towney and Claudia Fox.
With 30 seconds on the clock to go, the score was 27 all. However, with a quick change of possession and a foul against our team Macintyre High ran away with the victory. The final score was 30 to 27.
It was a fantastic achievement for a school to reach the North West Semi-Finals in a sport that our wider community is not very experienced in. This achievement demonstrates the depth of sporting talent that Coonabarabran High School students have. Well done to all the girls on an excellent performance and we look forward to being more competitive next year.
