Year 10 Debating
On Thursday 21 May, Coonabarabran High School played host to its first debate via video conference. The debate was held in the library’s video conference suite and was against Cobar High School over the issue “That examinations should be replaced by assessment tasks”. In a debate that could have been argued competitively either way, we lost the toss and argued for the negative. The debate was fought in high spirits and culminated in a victory for our enthusiastic team.
They say, “To the victor go the spoils” and there is little doubt that Alyssa Verrender, Katie Lee, Gabrielle Teale-McEvoy and Ruby Bouwsema enjoyed the afternoon display of ‘abseiling’ and ‘rock climbing’. Thanks must also go to the adjudicator, Rebecca Payne, and also to Brooke Thomas and Jodie Murphy for their contribution to the debate.
