CHS Swimming Carnival

Seventeen Coonabarabran High students travelled to the Sydney Aquatic Centre at Homebush from the 5 to 7 April, to represent their school and the North West region.

Phoebe Hensby (12) and Makayla Munns (13) competed individually in their first Combined High Schools swimming carnival achieving commendable results.  Phoebe was selected in the North West team for 5 individual results.  She demonstrated potential with several personal best times and top 20 performances.  Makayla achieved a personal best time of 1.20.38 in the 100 backstroke to also finish in the state’s top 20.

Coonabarabran High School’s relay teams also experienced success at the swimming carnival.  In the 13 years category the female and male teams achieved 19th and 23rd respectively, the 15 years female team accomplished 27th and the 16 years male team attained 24th.  The relay team members are as follows: 13 years female – Makayla Munns, Emma Kable, Caragh Fretwell and Kelly Wrench; 13 years male – Sam Douglas, Nicholas Baker, Jim Nash and Jai Suckley; 15 years female – Madeleine Baker, Lucy Dowling, Meghan Silk and Teigan Higgins; 16 years male – Josh Douglas, Ben Korff, Sam Rawlinson and  Dean Wrench.    

All students are to be congratulated on a excellent achievement, representing their school and region with distinction.  Miss Crossingham looks forward to being more involved in the swimming program towards the end of the year.
