BEIJING OLYMPIC MARCHING BAND

Our four Marching Band students leave next Tuesday for their final rehearsals and a tour of China.  Our representatives are:  Nicholas Adam (trumpet), Alexander Lee (saxophone), Annie McKinnon (saxophone), and Alice Riley (flute).  The band uniforms are ready, the music has been memorised, marching formations polished, and bags are now being packed.  We wish you all an exciting, memorable tour (and we will look out for you in the television broadcasts).  Have a wonderful time!!

CELEBRATION CONCERT 2008

Rehearsals for the Combined Schools’ Choral Concert will be starting next week.  Students who wish to join the choir need to register their names with Miss Suthons.  The choir will travel to Armidale later this term to rehearse with the schools in the North-West region, and then return to Armidale in Term 3 to perform in the concert.  The concert will be held in the afternoon of Sunday, 26th October.  I hope parents and friends will be able to join us for what is usually an exciting and amazing event.  More details will be available closer to the event.

AMEB ACTION!

A number of the High School students are in the process of their final preparation for practical exams on their chosen instrument.  Exams will be held in the next three weeks and we wish all our students a good test with a successful outcome!  Students will travel to Tamworth for Singing Exams and to Dubbo for Woodwind, Brass and Piano Exams.  String students will have their exams in Coonabarabran.  Best wishes to all our candidates.

ORBITAL SWING BAND

Our schools and community band resume rehearsals this week.  We meet in the Primary School Music Room each Thursday from 4.30 to 7pm.  The band is always keen to have new members join.  Tuition is available for those who want to learn to play a new instrument, and some instruments are available to borrow as you learn to play.  If you are interested in participating see Miss Suthons at the High School or come along and meet the band on a Thursday.

The band are preparing for a special concert which will be held this term in the High School on the last weekend of term (end of week 9).  Our four musicians from the Beijing Olympic Marching Band will feature in this concert.  More information will be available closer to this time but save the date for a very enjoyable performance!
